Durian Arctic Blast
Blugré Coffee is one of the cafe that was responsible for creating a coffee culture in Davao. Established in June 1998, they now have 10 branches nationwide. 7 in Davao and 3 in Luzon located at 26th Street in BGC, Malacañang Complex and in Club Manila East in Taytay, Rizal. The last branch mentioned, was the one we visited.
This is actually the first time that I'm trying the Pride of Davao. Blugré is proud to be a Filipino brand that has surpassed and survived the growth of the industry because of the consistency of the quality of their products and how they build relationship with the community.

Blugré’s claim to fame is its signature drink, the Durian Coffeccino, a hot cappuccino concoction that wonderfully blends espresso and the durian fruit. It is dubbed as the “The King of All Coffee's” since Durian is named as the “King of Fruits” in Southeast Asia. Another crowd favorite is Dutertea which is actually matcha plus durian frappe, as the name suggest it is named after Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte also from Davao.
Of all the drinks at Blugre, my favorite is the Durian Arctic Blast. Check out the first photo on this blog post. It has the right amount of Durian in it that is not overpowering. I'm actually not a big fan of durian but this cafe makes me fall in love with the fruit. From their wide array of cakes, I would recommend the matcha cheesecake and choco torte with cream sauce. If you are opting for a rice meal you shouldn't miss the Cara Beef Tapa Scrambler.

Blugré Coffee also offers other delicious drinks, cakes and pastries that has Durian as one of main component. Durian is actually taken from the Malay-Indonesian language word “duri” and “spike”. This is to describe the numerous spike of the fruit. It varies in size. Durians has different varieties and can have significantly different aromas.
Blugre Coffee is one good example of a Filipino brand with a worldwide charm. I don't agree to the notion that Filipinos just love brands because it is foreign or imported. Filipinos would patronize Filipino products and brands if they see the value and quality in it, just like Blugre Coffee.
The brand gives back to the community too. They support environmental causes, engages in activities that promote ecological health, such as tree- planting. They advocate humanitarian initiatives, often working in tandem with the local government and business community in charitable projects like feeding programs. It is their vision to promote a culture of celebration with every cup of coffee they serve.
